Before smartphones and social media, we had these things called camcorders. They were kind of like cameras but bigger. I would imagine they were a “cord” bigger, and that’s how they got the name. Probably.
If my memory serves me correctly, most people were very annoyed with cameras being pointed in their face. This is obviously no longer the case.
Camcorders were really ugly, bulky things.
Can you image taking a selfie or snap with this thing?
And so, they required a prompt from the user to an audience in order to capture a moment. Something to say to people to encourage a normal response, and not like they’re staring at a satellite.
