I don’t usually post about serious situations and I’m sorry. With the amount of issues that we see on a daily basis, I try to focus on happy, funny, fun moments… as a way to decompress from things that we see everyday.
One thing I’ve always believed in and hope to get better at is having a conversation about what’s happening in our society. Everyone has their own opinion about issues, and that’s ok! It’s ok if you don’t see eye to eye with someone else BUT it’s important to hear what that person has to say.
It’s hearing why they think the way they do, what their view points are… maybe learn something from that person. The point is to have a conversation about something that isn’t fuzzy and nice.
I believe having a conversation will start moving things forward. Closing someone off because they have a different opinion than you is how we get stuck and how we get divided. I’ve read on my newsfeed before people saying, this is how I feel and I will “fight anyone one on this”. It doesn’t matter if it was an important subject to talk about, which it wasn’t or this person was right, which we don’t know. But not allowing a conversation to form because you’re SO certain that your stance is correct doesn’t make things better.
Trending right now is a new PSA about police brutality in America. I’m not saying what my opinion is on this subject but I will say this video is worth watching. In the short film you’ll hear real 911 calls and powerful imagery. It’s not graphic but the message is powerful.
Let’s have a conversation.
