Do you remember that one hit Nero did had called “Promises”? It came out in 2011 and really put the band on the spot but I don’t think they’ve had a bigger hit since then.
That’s probably the reason Quix did a remix of Nero and Skrillex, to breathe new life into the hit single “Promises”. It’s now available on iTunes but check the dubstep out below.
I’m personally diggin’ it. It’s a new approach to the single and it doesn’t sound like the original, which when it comes to covers or in this case a remix I like to hear something different. Obviously, if you’re not into mixes you’re not going to like it.
This remix works in the lightness of the song “Promises”, and adds a Skrillex feel. There is a touch of darkness in the early parts of the song by Quix which should be expected when knowing Skrillex is involved. It’s not overpowering though, and overall it’s a great remix.
You don’t think to yourself “GAWD! When is this song going to end?” which me, personally, not a HUGE dubstep fan but I can appreciate it… sometimes I feel like that.
